Revamped classic violent city builder

Constructor is a city builder with a dark twist. Build a functioning city by any means necessary by employing thugs, destroying rivals with fire and explosions and more in this classic revamped title.

Old school builder

Constructor's original release back in 1997 earned a cult hit status for this unique strategy game. The silly and darkly humorous style set it apart from other more serious city builders. This revamped 20 year anniversary release features a HD graphical update, multiplayer mode and slightly revised gameplay. Taking on the role of a property tycoon with a distinct lack of morals, players must build homes and infrastructure to earn money and better buildings. Other players, whether PC or human, share the map and a desire to expand. Take over other player's properties by sending in thugs to destroy properties, roving parties of hippies and dodgy electricians. Despite the relatively small amount of changes from the original release, the new version of Constructor has a whole range of issues. Crashes are frequent, connecting with human players is nearly impossible and new content is locked behind DLC.

Mixed bag

Constructor is an engaging forgotten gem which has received a lacklustre update. The sheer amount of errors and glitches make it a worse product than the original game, but future patches may resolve this.

PROS

  • Great comedy tone
  • HD graphics

CONS

  • Large amount of errors
  • Expensive
